User-Oriented Service Based on External and Internal Geomagnetic Field Models at SPDF

This service allows the users to specify a certain point in space and then to calculate a variety of parameters of the Earth's magnetic field taking into account contributions from the internal and external sources. It is based on the external sources, magnetospheric field models T89c and T96_01 developed by Dr. Nikolai Tsyganenko and the internal sources, DGRF/IGRF geomagnetic field models for Epoch years 1965-2010. More information about the external field models is available at the Web site http://geo.phys.spbu.ru/~tsyganenko/modeling.html

* External (T96_01) and Internal Geomagnetic Fields Model

The T96_01 model is a recently released version of the new data-based geomagnetospheric magnetic field models with explicitly defined realistic magnetopause, large-scale Region 1 and 2 Birkeland current systems, and the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) penetration across the boundary. This version is parameterized by the IMF By and Bz components, solar wind dynamic pressure, and the Dst index used as the input parameters.

This service allows the user to specify a point in 3D space in GEOcentric spherical coordinates in and then to calculate:

* External (T89c) and Internal Geomagnetic Fields Model

The T89c model is a widely used version of the geomagnetospheric field model driven by the externals sources (cross-tail, magnetopause, and ring currents) parameterized by the planetary geomagnetic activity index Kp.

This service allows the user to specify a point in 3D space in GEOcentric spherical coordinates in and then to calculate:

* Corrected Geomagnetic Coordinates
