External (T89c) and Internal
Geomagnetic Field Model Parameters at SPDF |
This service is based on the external sources magnetospheric field
model T89c developed by Dr. Nikolai A. Tsyganenko,
and the internal sources DGRF/IGRF geomagnetic field models for
Epochs 1965-2005 and the secular variation model 2005-2010.
The T89c model is one of the most used geomagnetospheric
magnetic field models driven by the externals sources (cross-tail, magnetopause,
and ring currents) parameterized by the planetary geomagnetic activity
index Kp (this index is specified as an input parameter).
This service allows the user to specify a point in
3D space in GEOcentric spherical coordinates and then to calculate:
- dipole MAGnetic and corrected geomagnetic (CGM) coordinates of the
point;
- GEOcentric, dipole MAGnetic and CGM coordinates
of the conjugate point;
- geomagnetic field component values at the specified
point and at its conjugate point;
- apex of the magnetic field line (i.e., its farthest point
from the Earth's center), passing through the
specified point;
- B-minimum value for the geomagnetic field line, passing through the specified point.
