Brief Description:
This model was developed on the basis of Akebono satellite measurements. Average
Te distributions in the altitude range 1000 to 10,000 km and in the goemagnetic
latitude range +/- 70 degrees are used to construct a simple analytical model.
Transitions between a constant nighttime and daytime state are modelled with cubic
splines. Second order polynomials are used to represent the altitudinal profile and
the polynomial coefficients are described in terms of altitude, geomagnetic latitude
and local time.
